Being a leader is one of the most important skills to have in today’s society to be successful. Although there are many attributes of leadership - influence, integrity, confidence, communication, and the list goes on - there is one in particular that I want to focus on. And that is procrastination.
The following is one of my favorite quotes: “The cost of procrastination is life you could have lived.” I have this quote on my whiteboard in front of my desk, and every time I get off task, I look at the quote and get to work.
Although it might have worked when I was younger, I know that in college and in my future career, procrastination will burden me. If I want to be a business leader, leaving tasks until the last minute could mean a product doesn’t get launched, customers get upset, or employees quit. Therefore, I believe that one of the most important characteristics of a leader is to avoid procrastination. So do your best to avoid it! At the end of the day, we should all be leaders.
