Perspective taking is vital in our ever changing society and is the key to achieving empathy. It’s the ability to look beyond your own point of view, so that you can consider how someone else may think or feel.
There have been multiple instances throughout my life that have tested my ability to change my lens. For example, when I talk to someone with a different political view than me, instead of arguing, I do my absolute best to see the same problem from their perspective. Without understanding the upbringing and background of others, opinions will continue to clash, preventing progress.
